My love for beautiful things that sparkle and dance with light began when I was a little girl, exploring my grandma’s jewelry box —and it has never faded! My artistic journey has evolved from fine arts to a rewarding career in the jewelry business that spanned over 40 years. I have always wanted to merge painting and jewelry, as it seems a shame for such beauty to remain “hidden in a box” unless worn.
The natural world, in all its magnificent glory—from the heavens above to the depths of the sea—has continuously inspired my interpretation of beauty in life and in my heart. I find endless inspiration in colors, shapes, structures, and living creatures, observing their relationships in a state of constant motion and transition.
I am deeply moved by light; its reflection, sparkle, and energy bring me joy. I hope my work evokes the same feelings in those who view it. Many materials I use come directly from my jewelry box—pieces I would never wear but wanted to admire. Some hold deep meaning for me, having been passed down from beloved family members who have since moved on. I also incorporate crystals, pearls, gemstones, and cubic zirconia from my inventory as a jewelry designer. The discovery of reflective fire pit glass added an exciting dimension, revealing different colors and sizes that interact beautifully with the painted surface.
Creating these canvases is a labor of love that can take weeks or even months to complete. Once I begin a piece, it becomes a true relationship between me, the materials, and the inspiration. Sometimes I start with a drawing or a simple idea, and then I immerse myself in the world of the artwork.
In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, I watched a documentary titled “The Octopus Teacher,” which profoundly inspired my new direction in art. In the opening credits, the female octopus covers herself with shells for protection, creating a living sculpture of reflective beauty, strength, and artistry. This moment moved me spiritually—goosebumps and all! The next day, I began a small canvas, marking the beginning of a new journey.
This journey has no limits, and I follow it into the light.
