Lani McCusker was born in Southern California, the daughter of artists. Her Parent's career as professional ice skaters spanned decades, and their love of Nature, oceans and Hawaii influenced Lani greatly. She says that her appreciation of all artistic things is the catalyst that fueled her imagination and sparked her ability to create and paint. It was inevitable she would follow her artistic heart throughout Her life. From a young age, she sketched, painted and designed and taught herself how to sew. Her passion thrived as she honed her skills to design clothing and costumes for herself and others. This skill would serve her well years later, when, after following in her parents’ footsteps, and achieving her own success as a professional skater, gracing the stages as a performer in major showroom productions of Las Vegas. She graduated into a career as a costume designer and technician. She designed and built costumes for the production shows as well as major artists performing on the Las Vegas Strip. This second career grew to include haute couture, enabling her to master the art of enhancing the feminine form with fabrics, color and unique creative designs.

Inevitably, her path as an artist would experience yet another transformation, which brings us to Lani today.

Believing in “The Power of Woman” became an obvious theme in her paintings, from fantasy to real life portraits of unique female models. Working with an airbrush and acrylic paints and experimenting with textures with fabrics, rhinestones and created feathers, she creates subjects and scenes, emphasizing feelings of expression, in order to bring her artwork to life. Her appreciation of women and the beauty of the female anatomy has resulted in hours in front of a canvas and brought her work recognition in theLas Vegas community, where various pieces from her varied collections, grace both the walls of restaurants and the private homes of art collectors.

Lani paints daily and welcomes the opportunity to bring the ideas of art enthusiasts to the canvas. She meets with potential clients in a warm atmosphere, and continues to create her art, not only for those who appreciate her work, but because, as she says,

“A true artist dips her brush into her soul, and paints her own truth into her art.”
